One of the nicest gifts i have ever received.

On Mondays, Res Con at Parks Canada gets together to Stitch'n'Bitch. We all knit or crochet and chat about what's been going on.

Tomorrow, one of our members is moving to a new job, so we had a little going away lunch celebration. Two of the members made us all matching angry knitting beaver t-shirts. They are completely beautiful. My new favourite t-shirt:

So it goes.

Speaking of celebrating people who have had a huge impact on the shape of society as we know it with song....

Last night we went to the eBar to take in a live show. This is a more-than weekly occurance around these parts as our little city has an excellent indie music scene. Em had found out about this 10-piece collective of musicians called Library Voices. They had traveled all the way from Regina, Saskatchewan to play for a smaller-than-average crowd of Guelph locals.

They made us get out of our seats and I started to move. Um, wow they are so good. It must take a whole lot of practice to harmonize with so many other singers and have such clean stops and starts midsong. Anyway, I really really like them and then I fell in love with them when they played one of the coolest, most clever songs I had heard in a long long time: Things We Stole from Vonnegut's Grave.

I tried to throw my money at them in support, but they had been cleared out by a bunch of teenagers whom wanted t-shirts with the f-word on them. This wasn't the t-shrit they had last night, but I couldn't find a picture of it and I'd take this one anyday.

"I'm a sucker for clever webcomics".

Truth. I can start at the beginning and just make my way through. Andrew thinks I'm crazy because I sit at my computer with my back to him and lol.

Earlier today, a friend directed me to xkcd. I had mentioned that I was looking for a t-shirt that I had seen someone wearing awhile ago. And there it was. I want to wear something with wit and style to my thesis Defense. This will do the trick nicely. Dress pants, maybe a tailored jacket, some kitten heels, and a Stand back I'm going to try Science t-shirt.

Another webcomic that I can't get enough of is NatalieDee. I like to pick a particularly offensive or confusing episode, put it up on my laptop screen, and face it at Andrew while he's in his office and I'm off doing something cool. This distracts him and effectively takes-away from his super-typing abilities and then I don't have to hear updates as often. "Wow, my thesis is 30,000 words long now." Yeah, well mine will be too.

Back to the hilarity that is my Friday afternoon,
Cass

p.s. Andrew just came up to me all bundled up and yelled at me through my headphones that he is off to school. I showed him this, laughed at myself, and said I was a bad grad student. He yelled back, "yes you are, today!" Aw, I like him.
